Florida Hospital Kissimmee issued the following announcement on Nov. 22.
"On my heart badge I have my sons, Adam and Ian. I gave birth to Adam in 1994 at Florida Hospital Orlando. The pregnancy and delivery went well, but he needed to be admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit where we remained for 10 days.
In 1996, while 30-weeks pregnant with our second son Ian, we discovered that he was anemic and needed an invitro blood transfusion. During the procedure, his heart stopped. The doctors quickly performed an emergency C-section and within the first minutes of his life, he was resuscitated three times. He stayed in the NICU where he was cared for by the amazing Florida Hospital nurses and doctors. After several weeks, we were able to bring our precious child home on a heart monitor.
Both of my sons are gifts from God and that is why I have them on my badge. You can look at someone and not see the pain they may be feeling inside, so I always try to treat people with the same compassion and understanding that I treat our sons. Anytime I come in contact with a human life, a precious child of God, I treat them with love and respect."
